AOT Raises Passenger Charges, Enhances Airport Services

As of April 1, 2024, the Airports of Thailand (AOT) has implemented a rise in the passenger service charge (PSC) for travelers, marking an increase from 700 Baht to 730 Baht for international flights and from 100 Baht to 130 Baht for domestic flights. This adjustment aligns with AOT’s introduction of the Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) across its six managed international airports, including Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang International, Chiang Mai International, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International, Phuket International, and Hat Yai International.

Dr. Kerati Kijmanawat, AOT’s President, emphasized that the adoption of CUPPS is designed to elevate service quality, offering passengers a more convenient, swift, and secure experience at these airports. The initiative reflects the guidelines set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) to modernize and enhance airport operations to meet international standards.

CUPPS comprises three integrated sub-systems: Common Use Terminal Equipment (CUTE) for improved service at check-in counters; Common Use Self Service (CUSS) to cut down waiting times and allow for earlier check-in; and Common Use Bag Drop (CUBD), enabling passengers to manage their baggage loading independently.

The transition to CUSS, while streamlining check-in processes, has led to an uptick in service charges for AOT, justifying the increased PSC rates to cover these enhancements.

The decision to augment PSC rates, as detailed by Dr. Kijmanawat and the AOT team, underscores the organization’s commitment to fostering a state-of-the-art, efficient airport environment in Thailand.
