Arrest Warrant Issued for Singaporean in Bangkok Murder Case

Thai authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a Singaporean man accused of fleeing after his Thai girlfriend was found murdered in a Bangkok apartment. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Benjamin Goh, was last seen heading toward Chiang Rai province near the Myanmar border, police confirmed on March 27.

The victim, 30-year-old Prao-Pilas from Khon Kaen province, was discovered wrapped in a blanket and bed sheet in the bathroom of a hotel residence on Sukhumvit Soi 39, Watthana District, Bangkok. Police found visible wounds and blood on her head when they arrived at the scene on the evening of March 26.

Investigations revealed that two of the victim’s friends had reported her missing at Thonglor Police Station after failing to contact her since March 24. Authorities determined that Goh, who had been in a relationship with Prao-Pilas for three years, was the last person seen with her. Security footage showed him entering and leaving her apartment multiple times between March 23 and March 25. By March 26, he had checked out of a nearby hotel and was seen leaving Bangkok.

According to the victim’s mother, the couple had a history of conflict, though she had never witnessed serious violence. However, Prao-Pilas had previously sent her mother photos of bruises from alleged assaults. Days before her death, she reportedly told her mother, “If I disappear for two nights, no one would hurt me except him.”

The South Bangkok District Court approved an arrest warrant for Goh on March 27 for overstaying his visa and failing to report an unnatural death. Authorities have coordinated with immigration officials and Myanmar border police to track him down. Thai police suspect he may have attempted to flee the country via natural border crossings.
