Boat Capsizes in Ao Nang Bay Amid Rainstorm, Three Rescued

On Sunday morning, a boat carrying two Chinese tourists and a Thai man capsized during a rainstorm in Ao Nang bay, Muang district. The incident, which occurred near Phi Phi Le island around 11am, resulted in a swift rescue operation by a nearby speedboat belonging to Narayana Marine Co.

The speedboat, named “Varit,” was able to rescue the three individuals – a Chinese man, a Chinese girl, and a Thai boat driver – after they were seen clinging to the overturned vessel. Men aboard the “Varit” jumped into the rough seas, providing life vests to the victims before hauling them safely onto their speedboat using ropes.

It was reported that the sea conditions were hazardous in the area around Krabi and nearby Phuket at the time. In a related incident on Saturday evening, four Thai teenagers were swept out to sea off Surin beach in Thalang district of Phuket. Despite red flags and lifeguards’ warnings against swimming, the teenagers entered the water and were caught by strong waves.

Three of the teenagers were rescued by lifeguards, although one was found unconscious and later pronounced dead at Thalang Hospital. The fourth teenager remains missing.

Officials and those involved in the rescue operations have emphasized the importance of heeding weather warnings and avoiding dangerous conditions at sea.
