In the quiet hours of the night, amidst the stillness of Sattahip, a brazen attempt at burglary unfolded. On the morning of March 12, 2024, Police Lieutenant Thanit Teephakdee, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Sattahip Police Station, received word of a break-in at Thongpanya Shop, Branch 700, situated in the serene confines of Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. Despite the cover of darkness, the watchful eyes of CCTV cameras captured the intruder’s movements. Rushing to the scene alongside Pol. Col. Thanaphon Klinkasorn, Superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, and other officials, Lt. Col. Suwijak Ruengnawadee, Pol. Lt. Col. Chanatat Nawakunrangsi, and a team of diligent officers, they found Mr. Panya Panprasong, owner of the establishment, waiting.
Fortunately, upon inspection, it was discovered that no property had been absconded with. The only casualties of the attempted heist were a damaged CCTV camera and an anti-theft alarm cabinet. The surveillance footage revealed the perpetrator, cloaked in a cap, long jeans, jacket, sneakers, and a mask concealing their identity, scouring the premises for valuables. However, thanks to the robust security measures in place, the perpetrator was thwarted before any items could be pilfered.
Mr. Panya Panprasong recounted the night’s events, affirming the efficacy of their security system. Despite the culprit’s intrusion around 10:00 p.m., their vigilant setup promptly alerted authorities and relevant personnel. Although attempts to investigate during the night were stymied by unavailability of the store key, a thorough examination was conducted come morning.
In response to the incident, Pol. Col. Thanaphon Klinkasorn promptly ordered an investigation, deploying teams to comb the area and scrutinize CCTV footage in pursuit of the culprit. Their modus operandi, scaling the building and gaining entry through the rear, was meticulously analyzed. Fortunately, the diligence of law enforcement and the robust security protocols prevented any loss.
