Chom Dong Palace to Become Student Learning Center

On September 2, 2024, Jirawat Pramanee, the Permanent Secretary of Hua Hin Municipality, met with Worapoj Sanitwong na Ayudhya, a former ambassador, at the Chom Dong Palace to discuss the progress of opening the palace as a learning center for local students. The Chom Dong Palace, which was once the residence of Queen Rambhai Barni, consort of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII), is a site of historical significance and is being considered for inclusion in the local curriculum. This initiative aims to educate young students about the region’s history and instill an understanding of the monarchy’s role in Thai society.

The proposed curriculum would incorporate the history of Chom Dong Palace into primary education, allowing students to learn about the palace’s importance and its connection to Thailand’s royal history. Additionally, the meeting addressed plans to rename a nearby street to “Chom Dong Palace Lane” to honor Queen Rambhai Barni and celebrate her legacy.

It was reported that the initiative has received support from various officials within the Hua Hin Municipality. The effort to preserve and promote local heritage reflects a broader commitment to incorporating historical education into the curriculum, fostering a deeper appreciation of cultural heritage among the new generation.
