On March 22, 2024, a significant initiative took center stage at the conference room of Hua Hin District Office, Prachuap Province. General Krit Puangwalaisin, Hua Hin District Chief, led a press conference unveiling the Sharing Kindness Project by the Bun Prachuap Bicycle Club. The project aims to raise funds for the construction of the Phra Phithak Saharoka Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital in Don Chedi District, Suphan Buri Province. Scheduled from April 6 to April 12, 2024, the cycling event will cover a total distance of 360 km along the route from Hua Hin to various destinations including Cha-am, Phetchaburi, Amphawa, Ratchaburi, Photharam, Nakhon Pathom, Kamphaeng Saen, U Thong, and Suphan Buri, culminating at Wat Triwisutthitham, Don Chedi District.
The conference saw the presence of notable figures including Second Lieutenant Thanasarn Kamthai, president of the Boon Prachuap Bicycle Club, and Pol. Lt. Col. Khomsan Wanpleasi, advisor to the club, alongside representatives from various agencies and the media. At the heart of the project lies the Phra Phithak Saharoka Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital, envisioned as the first private Thai traditional medicine hospital in Thailand. Originating from the Phithak Sasanwong Thai Traditional Medicine Clinic, the hospital’s development was inspired by Phrakhru Phithak Sasanawong, also known as “Luang Pho Kai,” the abbot of Wat Triwisutthitham. The hospital’s mission is to provide free treatment for poor patients, employing holistic Dharma therapy to strengthen patients physically and mentally, thereby contributing to their families and Thai society.
The hospital construction project is estimated to cost around 300 million baht, featuring a six-storey hexagonal building with approximately 60 beds and advanced treatment facilities. Acting on behalf of the initiative, Second Lieutenant Thanasarn expressed enthusiasm for the project’s impact, stating, “I know that the Phra Phithak Saharoka Foundation’s Thai Traditional Medicine Hospital is about to be built. It is the first of its kind in Thailand.” He emphasized the importance of preserving the Dhamma while healing people, underscoring the essence of the initiative.
The project invites participation from over 200 cyclists from various provinces, encouraging both riding and donations along the designated bicycle path. Contributions can also be made directly to the Phra Phithak Saharoka Foundation’s account at Krungthai Bank. With a focus on sharing kindness and promoting merit, the initiative aims to mobilize support for the construction of the hospital, promising significant benefits for society and the nation’s healthcare landscape.
