Embracing Life’s Joys: Chuwit Kamolvisit’s Battle with Cancer

In a candid and poignant interview with Sarayut Sutsana Jinda, a renowned news anchor, Chuwit Kamolvisit bravely opened up about his battle with Stage 3 liver cancer, revealing that he has been given less than eight months to live. Despite this daunting prognosis, Chuwit is determined to embrace life as if every day were his last, living with joy and fulfillment.

Chuwit Kamolvisit, a well-known figure in Thailand, shared his story on August 4, 2023, highlighting the unique perspective he has adopted in facing his illness. Unlike many others who may be hesitant to discuss their health condition, Chuwit came forward, acknowledging that his own choices have contributed to his current state. Candidly, he mentioned his history of alcohol consumption and smoking, acknowledging that these factors have played a role in his illness. Chuwit expressed that he chose to speak out because others might lack the courage to do so themselves.

Chuwit Kamolvisit’s life has been an intriguing mix of experiences that have shaped him into the person he is today. Born on Aug 29, 1961, to a Hong Kong-born Chinese father and a Thai mother, Chuwit grew up in Bangkok, Thailand, with a modest upbringing that instilled values of hard work and perseverance in him.

Chuwit Kamolvisit’s educational journey has been marked by diverse experiences and a pursuit of knowledge across borders. He started his early education at Thepsirin School, where he laid the foundation for his academic path. Later, he pursued his undergraduate studies at Thammasat University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Accountancy, honing his skills in these fields.

Seeking further academic growth and exposure to an international setting, Chuwit ventured to the United States to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at San Diego University in California. This decision allowed him to gain valuable insights into global business practices and expand his horizons beyond national borders.

Returning to his homeland with a thirst for understanding political dynamics and governance, Chuwit pursued his passion and earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from Thammasat University. This academic pursuit equipped him with a deeper understanding of political systems and social issues, setting the stage for his future endeavors in the realm of politics.

As he stepped into adulthood, he found success in the entertainment industry, gaining fame as the owner of several massage parlors and entertainment venues. This venture brought wealth and influence, but it also came with controversies and legal issues surrounding the operation of his establishments.

However, as time went on, Chuwit experienced a transformational shift in his life’s direction. Seeking redemption and a higher purpose, he made a decisive move into politics, founding his own political party. His motivation was to fight against corruption and champion social justice. Chuwit’s entry into the political arena marked a significant turning point in his journey, as he used his resources and energy for public service, focusing on issues that deeply resonated with him.

In November of last year, the former politician, Chuvit Kamolvisit, gained notoriety as a whistleblower. He courageously brought to light incriminating evidence against various dubious Chinese businesses. Among the exposed entities were a criminal syndicate linked to Chaiyanat “Tuhao” Kornchayanant, Chinese gang-operated pubs allegedly involved in narcotics distribution to Chinese patrons, as well as online gambling sites and gambling dens situated in the capital.

Recently, Chuvit has embarked on a new crusade, raising concerns about Mr. Srettha’s qualifications. Chuvit claims that Mr. Srettha played a role in assisting 12 landowners to evade taxes amounting to 521 million baht concerning Sansiri’s acquisition of a prime 400-square-wah plot on Sarasin Road in Bangkok (1 square wah is equal to 4 square meters).

In response to the accusation, Sansiri, the company in question, refuted the claims. In a statement, they asserted that the responsibility for dealing with taxes and ownership transfer fees in the land sale rested with the sellers. The company clarified that they were solely obliged to make payments at agreed-upon prices and facilitate the land ownership transfer as per the agreement.

Throughout his life, Chuwit has faced both ups and downs, displaying resilience, determination, and a desire to find meaning in every experience. His life story serves as an example of the complexities and transformations that one can encounter on their personal path. Balancing moments of success and controversy, Chuwit Kamolvisit’s journey stands as a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to navigate challenges, find happiness, and pursue a greater purpose.

With the time he has left, Chuwit wishes to cherish moments of tranquility with his family, wife, and close friends. He seeks to relish peaceful moments, whether it be sitting in a garden or lounging on a sofa, reminiscing about the past and reflecting on his life’s journey. The experiences he treasures, whether joyful or challenging, have shaped him into the person he is today. Chuwit’s future could entail being surrounded by loved ones, free from grand celebrations and lavish gatherings, as he has already arranged to donate his remains for the greater good.

Embracing a profound perspective on life, Chuwit expressed that death is a natural part of existence, and there is no need to fear it. He understands that some may hope to achieve greatness, power, and positions of authority, but he believes such aspirations may not always be suitable for everyone. For him, life is about finding happiness and contentment in the present moment. He urges everyone to live each day with joy and make the most of their time on this Earth.

Chuwit’s unwavering commitment to living his final days with joy and tranquility has touched the hearts of many, prompting introspection and admiration. While his doctors have set a time frame, Chuwit reminds us that life’s course is unpredictable, and we should not dwell on the future. Instead, he encourages us all to appreciate the present and find happiness in the simplest of things.

In this message to the public, Chuwit Kamolvisit emphasized that he is not afraid of what lies ahead. Instead, he welcomes the inevitable with serenity, knowing that his journey has been one of fulfillment and contentment. As he embarks on this inspirational journey, he hopes to be a guiding light for others, encouraging them to find happiness in their daily lives and to cherish every moment they have.
