Foreign Tourist Found Dead on Kata Beach in Phuket

A foreign female tourist was found deceased under a beach umbrella on Kata Beach, Phuket, on March 5, prompting an ongoing investigation into the cause of death. The discovery was made early in the afternoon by a local vendor who noticed the woman had remained motionless for an extended period.

The victim, described as a Caucasian woman around 50 years old, was found lying face down on a towel near the Karon Municipality Office. Authorities, including officers from Karon Police Station, Phuket Tourist Police, and rescue workers, responded quickly to the scene.

A preliminary examination revealed red rashes on the woman’s back and legs, but no signs of physical assault or struggle. Medical personnel from Vachira Phuket Hospital conducted an initial assessment before transferring the body for further examination.

Sarawut Somboon, a lifeguard at Kata Beach, stated that he was uncertain of the woman’s nationality but noted that she appeared to be traveling alone. The bluish tint of her skin suggested she had been deceased for some time before being discovered.

Officials are continuing their investigation to determine the cause of death and confirm the woman’s identity.
