Government Urges Timely Tax Filing Ahead of Deadline

The government has reminded all taxpayers, including business owners, online sellers, and digital content creators, to file their 2024 personal income tax returns by March 31, 2025. Those opting for online platforms like D-MyTax or e-Filing have an extended deadline until April 8. Officials emphasized that non-compliance could lead to fines or legal action, underlining the role of tax contributions in national development.

In February 2025, personal income tax revenue rose by 7.9% year-on-year, attributed to stricter enforcement and increased withholding tax payments. Taxpayers owing 3,000 baht or more can pay in three installments. Late submissions incur a 1.5% monthly surcharge, while tax evasion could result in a prison term of up to one year, a fine of up to 200,000 baht, or both. Providing false information carries harsher penalties, with imprisonment ranging from three months to seven years.

Authorities have also warned of fraudulent emails impersonating the Revenue Department, falsely offering tax deductions to steal personal data. Citizens are advised to avoid suspicious links and refrain from sharing sensitive information online.
