Immigration Crackdown: Pattaya Raids Target Illegal Foreigners

In the wee hours of March 16, 2024, Pol. Col. Thawatchai Narinrat, Superintendent 1 of the Immigration Bureau, spearheaded an operation in Chonburi Province. The mission ? To root out and apprehend groups of foreigners engaging in illegal activities, including stealing employment opportunities from Thai citizens. The focus of the operation was Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, prompted by public grievances.

Upon arrival, officials uncovered a network of individuals from neighboring countries peddling goods without proper authorization. From roadside vendors selling roti, pomegranate juice, and fruits to suspicious pedestrians, the inspection revealed a pattern of illegal entry into Thailand through natural channels. The detained foreigners face charges related to unauthorized sales and illegal entry, with investigations underway before their deportation.
