Japan and Thailand Pave Way for Auto Industry Dialogue

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin have laid the groundwork for dialogue centering on the future of the automotive industry, aligning with their shared goals in managing energy and climate challenges.

The talks emphasized a framework introduced by Kishida to explore avenues ensuring Thailand remains a pivotal manufacturing hub for Japanese car manufacturers. The focal point revolved around the production and exportation of next-generation vehicles, especially electric cars.

In response, Srettha affirmed Thailand’s unwavering commitment to supporting the operations of Japanese automotive firms operating within its borders.

At the Japan-ASEAN summit, leaders endorsed a collective vision statement, underlining their dedication to establishing a fresh framework for the Southeast Asian automotive sector. This initiative aims to foster deeper collaboration in advancing energy transition and deploying low-carbon technologies.
