Koh Samui Food Fiesta to Showcase Local Culinary Excellence

Koh Samui is gearing up to host a major food festival featuring over 72 renowned restaurants and leading hotels, all showcasing local ingredients in world-class dishes. The event, aimed at boosting tourism, will also offer visitors the chance to learn traditional local cooking alongside the island’s communities.

Scheduled for September 21-22, the “Samui Food Fiesta” will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the field opposite Pru Chaweng in Bo Phut Subdistrict, Koh Samui District, according to Mr. Rachaporn Poolsawat, President of the Koh Samui Tourism Promotion Association. Organized in collaboration with various agencies, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the event will focus on promoting Koh Samui’s culinary culture and enhancing the island’s appeal to tourists. Koh Samui’s local cuisine has long been a favorite among visitors.

The festival will feature dishes crafted by more than 72 of the island’s top restaurants and hotels, highlighting local ingredients prepared in innovative ways. Additionally, attendees will enjoy food exhibitions, cooking classes led by local communities, and activities designed to promote sustainable waste management and environmental conservation.

Incentives for festival-goers include vouchers and cash prizes totaling over 100,000 baht. A highlight of the event will be a live performance by Boyjozz, blending southern Thai songs with Soul Funk and a unique Manora performance. It was reported that the festival is expected to attract both locals and international visitors, further positioning Koh Samui as a culinary destination.

In addition to the food and entertainment, the event emphasizes environmental awareness, encouraging sustainable practices as part of its overall mission to boost tourism through cultural and eco-friendly initiatives. Organizers hope that this festival will serve as a model for future events that combine culinary excellence with responsible tourism.

The Koh Samui Food Fiesta promises not only a rich gastronomic experience but also a deeper connection to the island’s culture and community.
