Krabi Province recently held a press conference announcing the first “Khlong Thom Offroad Super Challenge” to raise funds for the Krabi Elephant Hospital. The event, scheduled for 12–15 September 2024, will take place at Huai Nam Khieo Reservoir in Khlong Thom District, with the goal of supporting sick elephants and promoting tourism in the region.
The press event, held at Khlong Thom Tai Subdistrict Municipality, was attended by Deputy Mayor Mr. Phusit Boonpluek, Chairman of the Six Four Offroad Group Mr. Atthawit Pengchan, and competition organizer Mr. Chaowalit Fakkaew. They emphasized the dual purpose of the event—generating funds for the hospital and boosting local tourism during the green season.

Mr. Phusit highlighted the economic benefits that the competition could bring to Khlong Thom Tai Subdistrict, citing the region’s ability to host participants due to its local food, natural beauty, and historical sites, such as the Wat Khlong Thom Museum, known for its ancient bead collection dating back 2,000 years.
Mr. Atthawit Pengchan shared that the competition would feature approximately 200 cars across six categories, with participants coming from Thailand as well as neighboring countries like Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The event is expected to generate over 3 million baht, with the proceeds supporting the treatment of elephants at the Krabi Elephant Hospital.
It was reported that the event would bring both local and international attention to Khlong Thom District, enhancing its reputation as a destination for motorsport enthusiasts and tourists alike. The collaboration between local officials and organizers is seen as a step toward sustainable tourism and wildlife conservation in the province.
