Local Charm Event Showcases Art, Crafts, and Sustainable Living

Recently, the “Local Charm, Community Art Creation, Development Market for Happiness” event was held at Bluport Hua Hin Shopping Mall in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The event aimed to promote local community products and foster sustainable income through the creative integration of crafts, art, and cuisine. It was reported that the ceremony was presided over by Mr. Komkrit Charoenpattanasombat, Deputy Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

A key highlight of the event was a seminar titled “Integrating Community Handicrafts into Art to Increase the Value of Community Products,” led by Ms. Saifon Collins, an artist known for her woven work under the Hua Hin Art on Wheels initiative. In addition, attendees were treated to a cultural performance called “Din Pha Daeng, the Color of Auspiciousness,” and a fashion show featuring tie-dye fabrics from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province.

The event featured over 50 booths selling local products, emphasizing the fusion of traditional crafts with art to enhance their market value. Visitors were also invited to sample a special dish, “Coconut Shoot and Mussel Curry,” prepared by a local chef using ingredients sourced from Thap Sakae and Sam Roi Yot Districts, such as coconut shoots and fresh mussels. This culinary demonstration highlighted the province’s rich food culture and commitment to using local produce.

In addition to showcasing local crafts and cuisine, the event promoted sustainable practices, with displays of self-sufficient models such as pond and field management. The focus was on encouraging self-reliance and sustainable economic growth within the community. Attendees were also invited to explore innovative villages and communities across Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, offering insights into the local way of life.

As part of the event, a free one-day tour for ten people was offered as a special prize, with attendees encouraged to join the event at no cost.

Among the attendees were several local officials, including Mr. Achawan Kongkanan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Prachuap Khiri Khan Office, Mr. Damrong Makrajan, Provincial Development Officer, Mrs. Kritsana Phaesangchan, Culture Officer, Mrs. Wasana Srikanjana, President of the Hua Hin/Cha-am Tourism Business Association, and Mr. Chokchai Wongjakraphat, Managing Director of Bluport Hua Hin.
