Amidst a shocking incident on March 29, 2067, Petty Officer Newatthana Kanghan of the Royal Thai Navy, stationed at the Second Frigate Fleet, witnessed a foreigner lose consciousness in a parking lot at a well-known shopping mall in Sattahip, Chonburi Province.
Later identified as Mr. Zachary Crockett from the Netherlands, he was found lying unconscious in a reclined position inside a car. Acting swiftly, Petty Officer Newatthana, along with his wife, rushed to aid Mr. Crockett.
Upon initial assessment, it was evident that Mr. Crockett was not breathing and lacked a pulse. Petty Officer Newatthana immediately initiated CPR and promptly called emergency services for assistance. After several attempts, Mr. Crockett began to breathe, though he remained unconscious.
Further medical attention was provided by nurses and military personnel who arrived at the scene. Mr. Crockett was swiftly transported to the emergency unit of the Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Hospital, Royal Thai Navy Medical Department, for urgent treatment.
Currently, Mr. Crockett remains under critical care at the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) of Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Hospital, where his relatives have declined to provide further information regarding his treatment and privacy.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that Petty Officer Newatthana serves as a volunteer rescuer under the Royal Thai Navy’s Second Frigate Fleet, Unit 2 Search and Rescue Volunteer Program. With 60 trainees undergoing monthly training at the Aphaikonkritwong Naval Base, Sattahip, he displayed confidence in handling the situation effectively.
Petty Officer Newatthana’s actions exemplify the Navy’s commitment to humanitarian service, aligning with the military’s goal of being a “Trusted Navy” in the eyes of the public, as outlined by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy.
