Pattaya’s Papaya Salad Competition Draws Tourists and Boosts Tourism Economy

Jomtien Beach in Chonburi Province came alive on July 15, 2023, as tourists flocked to participate in the “Tam Sanan, it’s so big” papaya salad competition held at the bustling Very Large Market. The event, organized to promote tourism in Pattaya, was inaugurated by Midshipman Pramote Tubtim, the Permanent Secretary of Pattaya City.

Mr. Kamchai Apichokrotanakun, president of the Pattaya Merchants Club, warmly welcomed distinguished guests, including Ms. Kawinnart Takee, former MP for Chonburi, and Mrs. Chamnian Chainit, former president of the Bang Lamung District Women’s Development Group.

The competition, the first of its kind, aimed to stimulate the local economy and unite the community, fostering a vibrant tourism atmosphere. The event created a colorful and lively ambiance at Jomtien Beach and its surrounding areas.

Participants vied for a chance to win a prize of up to 10,000 baht and an honorable trophy presented by Mr. Poramet Ngamphichet, Mayor of Pattaya City, and the Pattaya Traders Club. Entrepreneurs also sent teams to compete, adding to the excitement and capturing the attention of bustling tourists.
