Phetchaburi’s 37th Phra Nakhon Khiri-Muang Phetchaburi Event Unveiled

On the twilight of March 14th, 2024, Mr. Nattachai Namphuonsuk, the governor of Phetchaburi province, chaired the opening ceremony of the 37th Phra Nakhon Khiri-Muang Phetchaburi event. The event, titled “Phra Nakhon Khiri Sudud Chom Rachan Magnificent World Heritage,” took place at Phra Nakhon Khiri (Khao Wang) within the vicinity of Chaloem Phra Kiat Park, Royal Jubilee, and its surrounding areas. It aimed to honor the esteemed monarchy and celebrate the cultural heritage of Phetchaburi province, fostering tourism in the region.

The official ceremony witnessed the presence of provincial officials, government heads, and related organizations. The event showcased cultural processions from eight districts of Phetchaburi, adorned attractively amidst the gathering of both Thai and international tourists. The grandeur of thousands of bright fireworks illuminated the Khao Wang hill during the opening ceremony, marking a dazzling start to the Phra Nakhon Khiri-Muang Phetchaburi event. This annual extravaganza, now in its 37th edition, promises a larger scale than ever before, with tourists treated to captivating light and sound displays, a fireworks spectacle featuring 3,000 launches, innovative soft power initiatives, and an array of local delicacies and products. Visitors also had the chance to revel in the wonders of the world heritage sites through cultural performances at the Kaeng Krachan National Park in a picturesque setting, considered a national pride of Phetchaburi province.

Additionally, the event featured exhibitions of traditional craftsmanship, such as handwoven fabrics, large leatherwork, and batik painting, enhancing the cultural enrichment of attendees through venerable rituals, along with indulging in local delicacies like dried fish with watermelon and hors d’oeuvres. Moreover, visitors could explore various artistic endeavors such as clay molding, wood carving, and flower printing, all contributing to the preservation of invaluable cultural heritage. Guests also had the opportunity to participate in soft power initiatives, conservation of profound cultural heritage, and various competitions with enticing prizes, including cars, gold necklaces, and numerous grand rewards, fostering goodwill and fortune. Through these activities, it’s believed that tourists will experience joy, leave with lasting impressions, and remain deeply entrenched in the memories of their visit.

Concurrently, the governor of Phetchaburi province invites the public and tourists to partake in the 37th Phra Nakhon Khiri-Muang Phetchaburi event from March 14th to 23rd, 2024, at the Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park and its surrounding areas, along with welcoming the Thai New Year and Songkran Festival, encouraging everyone to don traditional Thai attire for a fun-filled two-month extravaganza.
