In the early hours of August 15, 2024, a coordinated operation led by Pattaya City Police Station aimed to address public disturbances and potential criminal activities. Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Sirachat Nootet, deputy superintendent, and Pol. Lt. Col. Apinan Boonyarat, led a team of officers in a proactive patrol. Their focus was on curbing disturbances caused by Kuwaiti tourists, particularly those riding motorcycles with loud exhausts, in Soi Yen Sabai, South Pattaya, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.
The police operation involved setting up checkpoints strategically within and at the entrances and exits of the alley. The checkpoints were designed to prevent and deter various forms of crime while targeting specific concerns such as loud motorcycle noise and potential illegal activities. Officers conducted random inspections of foreigners, with a particular emphasis on Middle Eastern tourists. They checked for proper identification, compliance with vehicle regulations, and searched for illegal items including firearms and drugs.

While no illegal items were discovered, the operation resulted in the arrest of over 20 motorcycles. Many of these vehicles were found to have modified exhaust pipes that exceeded legal noise limits, and some lacked proper documentation. The police’s efforts highlight ongoing concerns about public order and safety in the area.
It was reported that the operation was part of a broader strategy to maintain order and address community complaints related to noisy and potentially hazardous activities.
