The Foreign Office of the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) took a dynamic initiative to spotlight Thailand’s rich culinary heritage and extend its influence on the global stage. Hosting a captivating study tour titled “Culinary Experience: Wisdom of Thai Gastronomy to Promote Soft Power,” the event aimed to showcase the essence of Thai cuisine and disseminate culinary knowledge to the international community.

The vibrant event unfolded at the esteemed Blue Elephant Restaurant in Bangkok, attracting an array of participants, including representatives from foreign embassies, government officials, media agencies from Thailand and abroad, and influential social media figures.

A pivotal highlight of the study tour was the enthralling visit to Samyan Market, offering participants a firsthand glimpse into the meticulous process of selecting the finest ingredients that form the foundation of Thai delicacies.

At the Blue Elephant Restaurant, the founder and celebrated Chef Nooror Somany, alongside Mr. Pornvit Sila-on, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, delivered compelling special lectures. The discussions centered around the promotion of Thai food exports and providing support to entrepreneurs venturing overseas. Emphasizing the international acclaim enjoyed by Thai cuisine, Mr. Pornvit acknowledged its significant contribution to the country’s export sector, attributing this success to the unique flavors and premium-quality ingredients characterizing Thai culinary delights. He encouraged Thai entrepreneurs to remain at the forefront of future food trends by focusing on the development of plant-based and high-quality products.

During the tour, participants delved into the intricacies of Thai dishes and enthusiastically participated in a captivating cooking competition. The triumphant winner was honored with an award, while all participants received certificates from esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Ekachat Seetavorarat, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Natapanu Nopakun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Information, and Mrs. Sudruetai Lertkasem, PRD Deputy Director-General.

As the event drew to a close, Mrs. Nutthanun Rajanakorn, the Executive Director of PRD’s Foreign Office, delivered a poignant closing speech, reflecting on the significance of Thailand’s Soft Power policy, which has been passionately advanced through the medium of gastronomy. The “Thai Kitchen to the World” campaign exemplifies the nation’s commitment to leveraging its unique culinary heritage as a powerful tool to foster cultural diplomacy and establish a profound global connection.
