Selection Process Begins for Provincial Strong Village Award in Bang Saphan

A provincial selection committee has begun evaluating villages for the “Strong Village” award in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, with Ban Raharn in Bang Saphan being the first to undergo assessment. The initiative, part of the “Land of Dharma, Land of Gold” project, aims to recognize and encourage community-led development efforts.

On March 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the assessment took place at the village hall of Ban Raharn, Moo 4, Kamnoet Noppakhun Subdistrict. Led by Suthee Laosubinprasert, the provincial deputy governor and chairman of the committee, the evaluation focused on the village’s governance, economic initiatives, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. The selection process is part of a nationwide effort by the Department of Provincial Administration to strengthen local governance and highlight exemplary village leadership.

Ban Raharn is one of three villages shortlisted for the award in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, alongside Ban Fang Tha in Pran Buri District and Ban Hua Tan Thaeo in Sam Roi Yot District. The committee will assess the remaining villages on March 5, 2025. The top-performing village will receive a cash prize of 12,000 baht, with second and third place awarded 9,000 and 7,000 baht, respectively. Winners will also receive honorary plaques from the Ministry of Interior.

The evaluation criteria include governance structures, law enforcement, economic sustainability, public health, education, environmental conservation, and community partnerships. Ban Raharn, situated in a low-lying agricultural area, faces challenges such as seasonal flooding but has implemented initiatives to improve local livelihoods. The village covers 7,890 rai, with most of its land used for farming, primarily coconut, palm oil, rubber, and pineapple cultivation. According to 2024 data, the average annual income per resident is 99,119 baht.

Local officials, community leaders, and representatives from various government agencies were present during the evaluation, underscoring the collaborative effort to promote sustainable village development.
