A construction site in Bangkok’s Nimitmai area became the scene of a serious incident on Sunday night when a steel frame gave way, injuring multiple workers and sparking immediate rescue efforts. The collapse occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m., causing panic as parts of the structure fell onto workers below.
Emergency teams from the Boonwipha Radio Centre and other local responders arrived swiftly to assist those trapped under debris. Authorities quickly sealed off the site and began rescue operations. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise followed by screams, which led nearby residents to alert emergency services.
While the number and extent of injuries have not yet been officially confirmed, several workers were reported to have sustained harm during the incident.
The cause of the structural failure remains under investigation. Officials from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), along with structural engineers, are expected to examine the site to determine whether construction and safety regulations were being followed.
This incident has added to growing concerns over construction safety in Bangkok, particularly in residential areas where infrastructure development is accelerating. Local authorities have reiterated the need for strict compliance with building safety protocols to avoid similar accidents.
