In a concerted effort to fortify the community’s foundation, volunteers spearheaded by Colonel Phattharachai Thankham, Deputy Secretary of the Royal Volunteer Administration Center Region 4, convened at Ban Arunothai School in Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict, Phanom District. The focal point of this initiative is to establish a network of volunteer centers within educational institutions, with schools at the heart, emphasizing the pivotal role students play in community building.
The gathering, which took place on January 18, 2024, at 0900, witnessed the presence of key figures including the director of Ban Arunothai School, the district secretary, kamnan, village headman, and a representative of the mayor of Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict Municipality. Volunteers from Khlong Cha-un Subdistrict and Volunteers 904, alongside the teachers of Ban Arunothai School, actively participated in the event.
Colonel Phattharachai Thankham led the meeting, focusing on strategies to strengthen the community, utilizing schools as central hubs, and empowering students as core contributors to community development. The collaborative effort involved the engagement of 271 students who were driven to extend the outcomes of the initiative to the broader community.
The initiative addressed challenges faced by students across 271 households, identified through home visits by teachers. The predominant issues revealed during these visits encompassed family problems, such as divorce and parents living separately from their children. These familial challenges were recognized as detrimental to the foundational strength of families and had a direct impact on the education system.
In response to these challenges, a volunteer center is slated to be established at the Khlong Cha-un subdistrict level. Serving as a central hub, this volunteer center aims to address the identified issues, providing support and solutions to enhance the well-being of the community. The emphasis is on building resilience within the community, fostering happiness, and contributing to an improved quality of life for its residents.
