In a coordinated early morning operation led by the Surin Provincial Police, two suspects were recently arrested in Chumphon Buri District on charges related to the possession and distribution of methamphetamine. The arrests, which involved multiple police units and local administrative officials, resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of drugs, firearms, and other assets.
Acting under the direction of Pol. Maj. Gen. Sukhon Sri Arun, the Surin Provincial Police Chief, law enforcement officers executed a well-planned operation at approximately 3:30 a.m. The operation involved the collaboration of the Chumphon Buri Police Station, the Surin Provincial Police Crime Suppression Division, and local administrative officials. The operation targeted two suspects, identified as Mr. Jarupong, also known as Oat, 30, from Samakkhi Subdistrict, Yasothon Province, and Mr. Attawut, or Mark, 23, from Sang Ming Subdistrict, Yasothon Province.
During the raid, authorities recovered a substantial amount of illicit substances and weaponry. Among the seized items were 58,000 methamphetamine tablets, a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol, 11 rounds of ammunition, and four mobile phones. The comprehensive investigation extended to the seizure of additional assets, including land, buildings, two cars, a gold ring, and three motorcycles. The total value of the confiscated assets is estimated at approximately 3,459,000 baht.




Mr. Jarupong faces several charges, including the distribution of category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, engaging in activities that threaten public safety, illegal possession of firearms, and carrying firearms on public roads without proper authorization. Mr. Attawut is charged with conspiring to sell category 1 narcotics and participating in their distribution, along with other related offenses.
The arrests occurred near a canal along National Highway 219 in Yavi Subdistrict, Chumphon Buri District, Surin Province, on the side heading towards Phayakkhaphum Phisai District, Maha Sarakham Province. The suspects, along with the seized items, were transported to the Chumphon Buri Police Station for further legal proceedings.
It was reported that Mr. Kasidet Thongchu, the Chief of Chumphon Buri District, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in the fight against drug-related crimes. He urged residents to report any suspicious activities or drug-related offenses to local authorities to help maintain safety and security in the region.
