In the early evening of August 12, 2024, around 5:00 p.m., Pol. Col. Thanaphon Klinkasorn, superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, was notified of a suspicious suitcase left under an overpass along Sukhumvit Road, in front of a department store in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. The unattended luggage caused alarm among local residents, who feared it might contain a bomb.
Upon receiving the report, a team of 10 police officers and investigators was dispatched to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and the Naval Ordnance Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called in to conduct a thorough inspection. A crowd gathered as the investigation began.

Witnesses in the area reported noticing two suitcases left unattended for several hours. Initially, they assumed the owner would return to collect them. However, as time passed and the bags remained, concerns grew that they might contain explosives, prompting someone to contact the authorities.
As the EOD team was en route, a young woman emerged from the nearby department store and identified herself as the owner of the suitcases. The police conducted an inspection of the bags and found only clothes and personal items inside.
The woman, visibly shaken by the situation, explained that she had been waiting for a friend to pick her up. While doing so, she placed her luggage under the overpass and went for a walk in the mall. Unaware of the commotion her actions had caused, she expressed her apologies to the police and the public for the unintended scare.
It was reported that the situation was resolved without incident, and the police cleared the area shortly afterward.
