Thai Food Stalls Thrive at Haikou’s Baishamen Night Market

Haikou’s Baishamen cultural and creative bazaar has become a vibrant hub of activity as the sun sets, drawing crowds to its Thai food stalls. The bazaar, spanning an impressive 60,000 square meters, opened its doors just a month ago and boasts over 600 stalls selling delectable snacks and cultural handicrafts. Among the 300 snack stalls, a remarkable 160 are operated by Thai vendors.

This emerging hotspot in Haikou has quickly captured the attention of both locals and tourists, welcoming a staggering 800,000 visitors in just 20 days since its inception. Kitisak Osathanunkul, an organizer representing Thai businesses in the bazaar, not only runs his own food stalls but also assists fellow Thai vendors with paperwork, visas, and accommodations.

For Kitisak, the night market in Hainan presents an exciting opportunity to venture into the Chinese market. After being invited to explore the market’s potential, he swiftly recognized the untapped prospects awaiting him and his compatriots from Thailand.

Despite the inevitable fluctuations in Hainan’s tourism throughout the seasons, Kitisak remains optimistic, eagerly anticipating the peak tourist season when the night market will be flooded with visitors.
