Thailand Aims to Lead Electric Vehicle Production

Thailand is poised to emerge as a frontrunner in electric vehicle (EV) production, with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin revealing ambitious plans to position the nation as a key player in the realm of future mobility. The announcement came during the inauguration of Delta Electronics (Thailand) Plc.’s latest facility and research center dedicated to EVs, located within the Bangpu Industrial Estate (North) in Samut Prakan province.

The unveiling of this state-of-the-art factory underscores Thailand’s commitment to bolstering its capabilities in EV and electronic component manufacturing, as highlighted by the Prime Minister. This strategic move is in response to the escalating demand for EVs and aligns with the government’s broader agenda of propelling Thailand towards becoming a hub for digital economy and innovative mobility solutions, as outlined in the “Ignite Thailand” strategy.

The event marked a significant milestone for Delta Electronics (Thailand) Plc., recognized as a pivotal player in the country’s electronics manufacturing sector. The expansion of its operations not only signifies its growth trajectory but also mirrors Thailand’s proactive stance in fostering an ecosystem conducive to the advancement of EV technology.

Attended by an array of dignitaries, including representatives from the Board of Investment, the Thai Trade Representative, the Ministry of Industry, the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, and the Samut Prakan provincial governor, the launch event underscored the collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors towards realizing Thailand’s vision of becoming a regional powerhouse in EV production.
