Thailand’s National Village Fund Promotes Sustainable Economy Through BCG Models

The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office is actively working towards developing Thailand’s grassroots economy by implementing the Bio-Technology, Culture, and Green Technology (BCG) models, aiming for a sustainable economy.

Representing Minister Anucha Nakasai, Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Minister Thatchayanat Jianthanatkanon presided over the opening ceremony of an event organized under the Grassroots Economy Development Initiative for Strong and Sustainable Community. The event took place at Udon Thani City Hall in Udon Thani province, with the presence of Udon Thani governor Wanchai Kongkasem and other officials.

During the event, the secretary emphasized the importance of implementing the BCG model to develop all areas, particularly agriculture and livestock. The focus is on improving the agricultural and livestock sectors to achieve high quality, efficiency, and value while maintaining balance, quality, and sustainability in alignment with the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

One notable initiative is a program that offers farmers the opportunity to raise cattle through interest-free loans for purchasing livestock. This program enables farmers to cultivate products with local identity and culture, enhancing production efficiency. The production of premium agricultural goods and the implementation of safe agriculture practices can improve the quality, safety, and standards of local food, thereby increasing market competitiveness both domestically and internationally.

The event, now in its 13th edition, brought together members of the Community and Village Fund from six provinces including Loei, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, and Bueng Kan. The event featured a business-matching session, exhibits, and seminars where experts shared their knowledge and experiences with participants.
