Three Found Dead in Nakhon Ratchasima Tunnel Collapse

All three workers trapped in a collapsed tunnel in Nakhon Ratchasima have been confirmed dead, with their bodies found close to one another. Rescue teams retrieved the first body, but hopes for a miracle diminished when it was revealed the worker had been deceased for several days.

As of August 30, 2024, at 6:10 a.m., the Nakhon Ratchasima governor, Chaiwat Chuenkosum, confirmed that the remaining two workers—a Chinese contractor and a Chinese engineer—were also found dead. The tragic discovery comes six days after the tunnel collapse.

Following the recovery of the first body, officials have begun scaling back operations. Temporary tents and equipment are being dismantled, marking the end of the rescue phase. Efforts are now focused on retrieving and transporting the bodies of the two remaining workers from the site. It was reported that local authorities remain on-site to oversee the recovery process and ensure all necessary protocols are followed.
