Investigation Underway: Foreign Woman Found Dead on Bang Saray Beach

In the early hours of February 28, 2024, tragedy struck Bang Saray Beach in Chonburi Province as the lifeless body of a 35-year-old Russian woman was discovered submerged in the sea. Clad in black exercise attire and sneakers, she was found lying face up along the shoreline of Village No. 2, Bang Saray Subdistrict, Sattahip District. Despite a thorough examination of the surrounding area, authorities found no evidence of foul play or physical altercation. Alongside the deceased, belongings including an electric scooter, a long-sleeved jeans jacket, 590 baht in cash, two mobile phones, and a quantity of marijuana were retrieved and preserved as evidence. The body was subsequently transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Bangkok Police Hospital for a detailed autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of death.

Later that day, at 2:00 p.m., Pol. Lt. Col. Suwijak Ruangnawamdee, Deputy Superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, led an investigative team to the beach area to conduct inquiries and review CCTV footage obtained from the Bang Saray Subdistrict Municipality. Analysis of the footage revealed that the previous evening, at 9:33 p.m. on February 27, the deceased had been observed riding her electric scooter alone along the seaside road. Witnesses reported seeing her earlier at a local event at Bang Saray Kongkararam Temple, approximately 400 meters from where her body was discovered. Notably, the CCTV footage depicted her riding the scooter in a manner suggestive of intoxication before reaching the beach. Municipal authorities, conducting routine camera inspections at 5:30 a.m. the following day, stumbled upon her lifeless form. No other individuals were seen in the vicinity, indicating that she had been alone at the time of her demise.

The deceased, a Russian national, resided in the Bang Saray Subdistrict with her Russian husband and their child. Additionally, she had enrolled in an English language course in Pattaya city, indicating her integration into the local community. While awaiting the results of the forensic examination, officials speculated that the woman may have accidentally fallen from a breakwater, potentially losing consciousness and subsequently drowning. Further inquiries are expected, including questioning of her husband, to facilitate ongoing legal proceedings and shed light on the tragic circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
