The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to host the “VIJITR 5 Regions @Prachuap Khiri Khan,” a vibrant event aimed at highlighting the timeless charm of Hua Hin through spectacular light displays across 15 zones. The event will take place from August 17 to 25, 2024, between 6:00 PM and midnight, transforming the town into a nocturnal showcase of history, culture, and the way of life in Hua Hin.
Recently, TAT welcomed members of the media and distinguished guests to a special preview at the Hua Hin Railway Station. The event, part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, featured modern light and sound techniques that evoke the nostalgic allure of Hua Hin, under the theme “Hua Hin, Timeless Light Charm.” This preview was designed to boost awareness and encourage tourism, with DJ Bookko (Thanatchaphan Boonratcheewiwilai) serving as the event’s host.
“VIJITR 5 Regions” is a nationwide project that aims to inspire travel across Thailand. The Prachuap Khiri Khan leg of the event will feature a series of light and sound exhibitions at key locations such as the historic Hua Hin Railway Station, Phon Kingpetch Public Park, and Gold Mall. The displays will tell the story of Hua Hin from its past to the present, blending historical narratives with cutting-edge projection mapping, lighting installations, and contemporary design.
Among the 15 featured attractions, the highlight is the “Locomotive of Light Treasure Landmark,” showcasing a 100-year-old steam locomotive from World War II. Other notable displays include the “Hua Hin Station of Timeless Charm,” which features Victorian-style wooden architecture illuminated to evoke a sense of bygone days, and the “Nature’s Treasure,” a light display that celebrates the region’s rich natural heritage. Each installation is carefully designed to merge tradition with modernity, drawing both local and international tourists, and creating new landmarks within the province.
The event also includes special performances using mixed media and advanced light and sound technology to narrate Hua Hin’s storied past. Highlight performances are scheduled for August 17, 18, 23, 24, and 25, at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, with a focus on two key locations: the “Locomotive of Light Treasure Landmark” and the “Glowing Boxing Arena,” a tribute to Hua Hin’s first world boxing champion, Phon Kingpetch.
