Voice TV Ceases Broadcasting After 15 Years

Voice TV, renowned for its pro-Thaksin stance, will halt all broadcasting across its platforms on May 31st, marking the end of its 15-year run. The announcement came today, with the company citing operational cessation and subsequent staff layoffs.

In an official statement, Voice TV conveyed the decision following a thorough evaluation of its business landscape and the broader media industry. It acknowledged the burgeoning online news providers reshaping societal discourse, coupled with evolving democratic principles in Thailand.

Established in 2008, Voice TV initially operated on select satellite TV devices before venturing into digital TV broadcasting in 2014 after securing licenses. However, financial constraints prompted its withdrawal from the digital TV platform in 2019, leading to a return to satellite broadcasting and online streaming via Facebook and YouTube.

Throughout its tenure, Voice TV maintained a pro-Thaksin stance, with occasional defenses of the Shinawatra family by its commentators. Notably, several former news anchors, including ex-Future Forward party members Pannika Wanich and Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, transitioned into politics.
